Arrival at Athens International Airport before 2:00 PM is required to join the group transfer to the island of Poros in the Saronic Gulf After settling in, there's time to meet the cycling group, receive route briefings, and enjoy a relaxing evening with a taste of traditional Greek hospitality and the first touch of the warm spring sun.
We begin our cycling journey by exploring the island of Poros, with its coastal villages, pine forests and charming harbors We then head to the volcanic peninsula of Methana, a dramatic landscape shaped by ancient eruptions, where we'll ride through dense vegetation and past geothermal fields, with plenty of opportunities for scenic breaks and immersion in nature before returning to Poros for the evening.
Departing Poros and heading inland, we cycle across rural landscapes towards the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Ancient Epidaurus Here we visit the legendary ancient theatre, known for its perfect acoustics and stunning classical architecture, and take time to explore the surrounding Sanctuary of Asclepius before a restful night in the area.
This day takes us through the heart of the Peloponnesian countryside as we make our way to Ancient Nemea, site of the first labor of Hercules where he slew the Nemean lion Along the way we pass olive groves and vineyards before arriving at a local winery to enjoy a tasting of the region’s famous wines, said to be a gift from Dionysus to Nemea, and end the day immersed in the myths and flavors of ancient Greece.
We cycle toward the historic Late Bronze Age city of Mycenae, once the seat of King Agamemnon, hero of the Trojan War Entering through the imposing Lions’ Gate, we walk among the Cyclopean Walls and explore the massive tholos tombs including that of Clytemnestra, soaking in one of the most iconic archaeological experiences in Greece.
Our final cycling day leads us to the elegant town of Nafplio, the first capital of modern Greece and one of the most picturesque towns in the country With its Venetian fortresses, neoclassical architecture, Ottoman fountains, and seaside charm, this is the perfect place to end our journey We enjoy free time to explore the old town, walk by the port, or simply relax and reflect on the week’s adventure.
After breakfast, we transfer back to Athens by minibus with time (depending on flight schedules) for a short walk or coffee in the city centre before catching flights home from Athens International Airport marking the end of our Greek cycling experience.
